What is commercial script writing and how does it differ from other types of script writing? 

Commercial script writing is the process of writing scripts for advertisements, typically for television, radio, or online video. The aim is to create a compelling narrative or concept that will drive action. Commercial script writing differs from other types of script writing in that it is focused specifically on promoting a product, service, or brand, rather than telling a story or creating entertainment – and as such has a strong CTA that the whole spot leads to.

How do you come up with creative and unique ideas for commercial scripts?

To come up with creative and unique ideas for commercial scripts, we start by thoroughly researching the client and their brand, as well as their target audience. This helps us understand what message will be most effective and resonate with their audience. Then it’s grab a coffee and get writing!

How do you ensure that the script accurately represents the brand and effectively communicates the desired message to the audience?

At Fox + Bear we thrive on getting this balance right. We think it is important to work closely with the client to understand their goals and objectives. We will also do additional research on the target audience to understand their needs, preferences, and pain points, which will help us craft the script in a way that speaks to those. We know when to colour outside the lines and aren’t afraid to challenge embedded assumptions. 

How do you collaborate with clients and other team members during the script writing process?

We want everyone to be happy with the final script, so we establish clear communication channels and regularly check in with everyone involved. We also set specific milestones and deadlines to ensure that the project stays on track.
